Alcoholism Treatment Program

How an Alcoholism Treatment Program Can Be Life-Changing

If you or a loved one have been struggling with alcoholism, and it’s gotten to the point where their mental and physical well-being has worsened, it’s time to receive help from an alcoholism treatment program.

It may not be surprising to learn that alcoholism is one of the most common forms of addictions out there, despite all we hear in the media about opioids, meth, and other drugs. But did you know that less than 1 out of every 10 people struggling with alcoholism were reported to have received treatment at a specialized AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) facility?

Not being treated for an addiction to alcohol can cause severe consequences. Alcohol use increases the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome in babies born to mothers who drink, increases the risk of liver disease and cirrhosis, and can lead to death.

Because drinking alcohol is normalized for younger adults, during the holidays, and even drinking casually during the week, it can seem impossible to recover when the temptation to drink is everywhere.

At Archstone Behavioral Health, we understand how hard this struggle is and we offer many different forms of treatment that can help you or a loved one break from alcoholism, even if it is brought on by trauma.

Here are a few examples of treatment offered at our alcoholism treatment center:

Detox

If you or a loved one is physically dependent on alcohol, the first step to receiving treatment is detoxing their body of this toxin. This will eliminate the physical need for alcohol, but the mental dependency still needs to be addressed.

Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies

This is where you or a loved one will learn healthy ways of coping with stress and their depression and/or anxiety. You can also understand their mental health diagnosis more clearly and be able to identify harmful thoughts that can cause addiction. Behavioral therapies are so important because they can decrease the chance of you or your loved one having a major substance abuse problem later in life.

12-Step Treatment

We’re sure you’ve heard of the 12-step program or Alcoholics Anonymous at some point in your life. That’s because it’s one of the most accessible forms of treatment out there and has helped millions find recovery since its inception. There is a strong spiritual element to our 12-step program, so if you or a loved one is particularly spiritual or religious, it tends to be a great fit.

Even if one is not necessarily inclined to believe in a higher power, 12-step programs can serve as a great support system full of other individuals that are trying to get their lives back on track. The simple step-by-step aspect of the program is easy to follow, which makes it easy enough for anyone to understand.
