Rehabilitation & Aftercare
What to Expect at a Rehabilitation Center
So, you’ve decided that you or a loved one need to receive addiction treatment at a rehabilitation center. Maybe you or your loved one experienced abuse as a child and used drugs or alcohol to help cope with their pain, or drugs or alcohol are being used to help numb the pain of a mental illness.
Whatever the case may be, Archstone Behavioral Health is here for you or a loved one and will help with the recovery process every step of the way.
Making the decision to seek treatment at a rehabilitation center is huge, and comes with a lot of questions. You may be wondering what kind of treatment you’ll be receiving. Although every person is different and treatment is individualized, here are a few things you can expect at our rehabilitation center:
Creating an aftercare plan is particularly important; at Archstone we focus on your whole recovery journey, not just while you’re residing at our rehabilitation facility. But why is aftercare so important?
Why Aftercare is So Important After Leaving Rehabilitation
Unfortunately, relapsing after leaving rehabilitation is fairly common. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, relapse rates while in recovery are 40 to 60 percent.
Why are these numbers so high? There’s several potential reasons for this, but one of the biggest reasons is that, after leaving rehabilitation, the patient may not have enough support to remain motivated for recovery. Along with having friends and family by your side to hold you accountable and to support you throughout your journey, being around other people who have gone through similar struggles as you can be extremely helpful.
This is where our aftercare program comes in. After the patient leaves our rehabilitation facility, we follow up with you at regular intervals to discuss your progress and any ongoing needs and issues that may affect your recovery. We also have an amazing group of alumni that can help motivate you to stay on track towards long-term recovery.
You may be wondering just how effective aftercare really is. Will a program like this really help you or a loved one stay sober? The likelihood of long-term recovery increases by 20 percent for each consecutive month you engage with your aftercare plan during your first six months after treatment.
Now that you have a basic overview of what recovery looks like at Archstone Behavioral Health, we hope you have a better understanding of what to expect before we can help you get your life back on track.
