Substance Abuse TreatmenT
If you or a loved one are struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, help is available at Archstone Behavioral Health’s substance abuse treatment center. Drugs and alcohol are difficult to recover from. That is why highly trained, compassionate professionals are available to help you get back to the life you deserve.
Why Is A Substance Abuse Treatment Center Necessary?
It is difficult to overcome addiction from drugs or alcohol alone. Simply having the willpower to change is often not enough to get better, but the desire to get help is the first step to recover from substance addiction.
Overcoming addiction involves more than deciding to simply give up drugs or drinking. Even after the substances have been cleaned from the body physically, mental aspects still remain that can cause a person to go back to using. Substance abuse treatment helps you take a deeper look into what mental and emotional factors may push you back to using drugs or alcohol. Drug rehab can allow you to overcome those non-physical obstacles to prevent you from having the desire to go back to those previous self-destructive ways.
What Kinds Of Treatment Programs Are Available?
Not all forms of abuse are the same. Therefore, no singular form of treatment can help every person recover from addiction. There are many treatment programs designed to help people with specific types of issues. Archstone Behavioral Health has professionals on staff that can help determine which treatment program is right for you or your loved one.
Individual Therapy. One of the most common forms of addiction treatment is individual therapy. This involves an individual working one-on-one with a single therapist. These sessions take place in private and allow the patient to be comfortable to open up about the issues they have been struggling with. With the help of a therapist, the patient can identify the underlying factors that have led to the abuse.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT is a commonly used and effective treatment. In this type of therapy, people explore how they can learn and unlearn specific behaviors. Patients are guided to make changes in their behavior that can eventually allow them to overcome addiction. A specialist will recommend CBT to patients that could benefit from the treatment.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy. DBT is a new treatment that has proven to be effective. This style involves the patient and their therapist working to develop important personal goals that are designed to improve their quality of life. Through positive attitudes and actions, patients learn there is so much more to life than their drug addiction.
Experiential Therapy. Treating drug addiction using these experiences is known as experiential therapy. This involves participating in activities that suit the person’s interests, while together getting therapy. Outdoor activities, meditation, and yoga are some examples of this type of treatment.
Holistic Treatments. The mind, body, and soul can be addressed in unison to help overcome addiction in a holistic manner instead of merely a physical detox or other singularly-focused program. Some of these therapy techniques include fitness therapy, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, and equine therapy. These treatments have proven to be effective for the proper patients.
Difference Between Inpatient and Outpatient Treatment
Understanding the difference between inpatient and outpatient care is an important part of determining which treatment method will be best for your situation. There are benefits to both when it comes to getting treatment, so you or your love one will need to consult with a specialist to determine which one will best help you on your journey to get clean.
For those with a long history of substance abuse, an inpatient treatment program is usually the best option. The patient lives at the treatment facility and has a structured schedule that devotes the whole day to treatment and recovery. Inpatient programs also allow the patient to get away from any triggers that can occur in their home or workplace, allowing them to focus all their energy on recovery.
Individuals that benefit from outpatient treatment are those that typically don’t need as much structure while still living at home or in a sober living facility. In many cases, a person that starts in an inpatient facility will move on to outpatient care as they improve.
Another option we have for our patients at Archstone Behavioral Health is a Partial Hospitalization Program. PHP is for individuals that have completed the residential program and know that they still need help on the road to recovery, or for those individuals that, for whatever reason, be it personal or professional, need to be seen on an outpatient basis.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program consists of clients entering treatment for 6 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Clients in a PHP participate in a comprehensive recovery program in which they work closely with many different treatment professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, and psychiatrists.
They will attend individual therapy sessions and group therapy with our highly trained staff. In addition, they will be working on building up the life skills necessary for a quality after-treatment program that will give them the best odds at achieving lasting recovery.
A Partial Hospitalization Program may be good for clients that have faced a relapse but don’t need the intensity of a residential program. A PHP offers some flexibility for our clients that our residential program does not.
Where You Can Seek Help at An Addiction Treatment Center
Finding a rehab anywhere in the U.S. that can effectively treat you or a loved one can be difficult, and even more so in Florida. There’s so many options, and only about 20% of these rehabs were accredited by The Joint Commission, a gold seal standard for ethical practices and treatment. Going to a safe and experienced rehab is crucial to ensure you or a loved can start their journey to long-term recovery.
Archstone Behavioral Health is here for you or a loved one struggling with mental illness and addiction. We’ve been providing high quality mental health services to those across the country for nearly 20 years, and have a strong group of alumni who can serve as a support system. Our alumni can attest to the fact that we are dedicated to investing in quality care, instead of posh settings like other rehabs in Florida. We also offer a full continuum of care, from detox to outpatient. We’ll be there for you, every step of the way during your recovery journey. We also have unique blogs that keep you up to date on all the latest recovery health information. For example, you can read our post about drug use in video games here!
