Archstone Behavioral Health
Trauma Informed Care
At Archstone Behavioral Health, we understand that many factors can lead to drug or alcohol addiction. Going through a traumatic experience is one of the more common reasons why people turn to drugs or alcohol in order to help numb their pain. Our addiction treatment facility, in Lantana, Florida, provides trauma-based care to our patients to give them the best chance at long-term recovery.
What is Trauma-Informed Care?
Trauma survivors who struggle with addiction need assistance with detoxing and sobering up, but they also, more importantly, need quality mental health services to ensure long-term recovery. We understand that survivors of trauma need to learn healthy coping mechanisms. Patients essentially need help rewiring their brains to detect negative thoughts and behaviors that can lead to substance abuse. The ability to detect these feelings and actions can help our patients identify when they are close to relapsing. The early detection of these triggers can lead them to seek help before or after a relapse may occur.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of talk therapy that focuses on the concept that thoughts and points of view directly influence behavior. This therapy provides patients with the ability to recognize their negative thought patterns that may have led to destructive behaviors in the past. Therapists and patients work together to change these thought patterns. It also addresses the way they view things, such as trauma, to control their reactions and responses. Patients learn to cope with their negative thoughts and emotions without the use of drugs or alcohol.
